COMPANY HISTORY

FROM THE BEGINING

March 1951 is the date that determined the purpose of the founders of the “Műszaki” of Hajdúböszörmény for a long time. Thirty craftsmen so far trying to make a living alone decided to join forces to ensure their livelihood. This joining of forces was not determined by professional division as the founding members include representatives of nearly forty professions. The main goal was to find more work as it ensured survival and further development.

The recipe was simple since there was a form since 1948 – the cooperative – that provided the opportunity for such a collaboration. The correctness of the decision was demonstrated by the fact that, after only a half year, the number of members increased to 42. Initially, all participants continued their previous service activities in their professions. Besides collaboration, the decisive factor is the recognition that individual professions should continue to work independently. Specialization took place in 1952, and the establishment of Műszaki Ipari KTSZ as a pure iron industry company can be calculated from this time. Locksmith and tinsmith work was the main activity and basically a service, for which the time spent in handicraft earlier provided a very good professional knowledge.

Compulsion to develop created new challenges to the professionals. They recognized that besides service, something else had to be started to enable the plant with a growing number of people to work and earn pro-fits. Thus, it was decided to introduce mass production primarily in the field of articles in daily use, e.g. smoke pipes, boiler stands, buckets, fire buckets, various household utensils etc.

The locksmith factory moved to its current site in 1972-74, followed by the mass production and the hot-dip galvanizing plant in the 1980s. The work of several decades is also characterized by the fact that the membership of only thirty people soon grew. In the seventies, the number of employees exceeded three hundred, unfortunately, however, the unfavourable economic changes resulted in the fact that by today, this number has shrunk to nearly fifty.

After the change of regime in 1991, the former MŰSZAKI KTSZ was renamed as HB Műszaki Ipari Ltd. and has been working under this name since then.
